After two challenging growing seasons, 2012 came like a gift from above. Very little rain, mild to warm temperatures, and a long, temperate Indian summer, made for fully developed fruit and plenty of density with a muscular – yet streamlined – build. We were able to thoughtfully harvest the fruit from our small vineyard over the course of nearly six weeks. The resulting wines are soft, rich and seamless, with each of our four varieties singing in perfect harmony.
Along with dark, rich aromas of mocha, chocolate and marinated cherries, the wine breathes out a vibrancy and aromatic brightness, laced with notes of incense, graphite, and toasting oak. These complexities carry through to the palate, where mouthwatering fruit flavors and subtle space notes meld with the smoky, ore-rich undertones. Even at this young age, the tannins are already highly polished, so the wine is immediately enjoyable. However, it will continue to evolve and improve with years in the bottle.
