2013 Dancing Hares Red Wine 6 Bottles Wood Box
Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 34% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot
Appellation: Napa Valley
Alcohol: 14.8%, by volume
Dancing Hares Winery released their first vintage in 2003, and founders Paula Brooks and Bob Cook were committed to producing beautiful wines from their estate vineyard in St. Helena, Napa Valley under the winemaking direction of Andy Erickson. The winery was purchased in early 2016 by Tuck and Boo Beckstoffer with a commitment to taking the wines to an even higher level under the winemaking direction of Philippe Melka and Michel Rolland.
Wines from the 2013 vintage from Napa Valley are dark and concentrated, but with an aromatic freshness and natural acidity that gives the wines balance, even with their impressive depth and concentration. On the nose, the wine is layered and complex, bringing forward the most exciting elements of our four varieties—sandalwood, incense, pencil shavings, and ripe black fruits. These notes carry through to the flavor profile, and the combination of fruit, acid and tannin combine to create a cooling, palate-gripping sensation, that coats the mouth with an expanse of fruit characters—blackberry, dried cherry, and baked blueberries.
This is a wine that will absolutely gain in complexity over time, and from the start it is rich, layered, and dense. This wine will be still on an upswing 20 years from now.
Robert Parker, 98+ Points: “The 2013 Proprietary Red Dancing Hares is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The color is a saturated ruby/purple, the nose is intense, deep and promising. The wine is full-bodied, with notes of chocolate, espresso, creme de cassis, licorice and blackberry. This is a fabulous wine and certainly a great 2013, which is saying something in a vintage that is this incredible. Drink it over the next 15-20 years."
